So this week has definitely been an interesting one! Monday I continued my job search because I'm still without a job... Tuesday was our first day to go to campus to share our faith, I went to San Diego State University, SDSU. It was really interesting because I talked to a few people who really didn't know who Jesus is and much about God in general, it's weird since I live in the bible belt and everyone has heard God. So it was really awesome to get to explain to them who He is and how He's changed my life. I also co-led the Bible study we hosted on Tuesday on campus. It was my first time to lead one so it was really exciting but sort of tough. We went through Hebrews 3 and 4 which is about finding rest in God, referring to Moses leading the many out of captivity. The rest of the week has been job searching and calling the places back, without any luck. The nights have pretty much been filled with outreaches on the beach. I've met some pretty cool people and got the chance to share what I believe with them. The other night I met a 20 year old guy who's here in the navy. He of course was cussing some here and there and we definitely got to him some, and hopefully got him thinking about God some more, he seemed pretty interested, and he said he's gonna try to come to our Friday night praise and worship next week, so hopefully he does.

A few days ago I realized I got a bite on my finger. it has now turned into my whole hand being swollen up and looking gross. I'll try to skip some of the real details but I had to go to the doctor today and get it checked out and get some antibiotics for it. It's a pretty limiting sore, I can't really even put my hand in my pocket because it's fat and hurts. So hopefully that will go away soon, because it's no fun at all...

I'm gonna try to keep up with posts on here more often than I have. I've been somewhat busy and have had a lot going on in my mind and it's hard to type clear thoughts so I've just been avoiding it, but hopefully things will start working out better! I am still looking for a job and am still short on support as of right now, so pray for both of those!

So playing in the worship band here was an amazing experience. It seems like everytime I play worship, I'm moved more than the last time. This is why I want music to be my life. I want to talk to the group that picks the songs, along with the band about some song suggestions, including doing some original songs. So I'll post how that turns out sometime.

To keep it fairly simple. I've been having a rough time out here lately. Not because of the project by any means, but it was just where God put me to be able to change some things in my life. So it's been looking up some since I've realized this, but it's still hard to live with, but I know it's for a better plan than my own. Tomorrow, Tuesday, I get to go to campus for the first time! We'll be going to San Diego State U and sharing with ppl on their campus. It's gets even better because I get to lead the Bible study over Hebrews 3 and 4 tomorrow! So I'm really excited even though I'm somewhat nervous about it all. But it will be great. I'll update about how that went sometime tomorrow night. Still continue to pray for my support costs and just for my summer. And let me know if I can pray for anything!

An Update

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but here's a quick update on my life in San Diego. I am still looking for a job out here. I've been spending the last few days out in the city looking for a job full time and it's been pretty rough, mentally. I haven't gotten any calls back or had any interviews scheduled yet. So hopefully things will change soon because I have to have a job this summer. I am still somewhere around $1000 short on my support for the summer, some of you may find out about this because they had us send more letters out today. We have had a little bit of time off so most of us went out to try some surfing. Unfortunately I am about as good at that as I am at finding a job in this city... I just found out how to update my blog from my phone, so I should be able to give a lot more updates than I have. We can only get internet in one location and it's not a great signal, and we're busy most of every day so it's hard to find a lot of time to write.

As for me I've been a little down because of the job situation, but other than that I've been having a great time and learning a lot. I've been spending some of my free time on writing or finishing up some songs, so hopefully I can post some sometime soon.
I was told initially that I was not in the worship band here but found out two nights ago that they made a mistake with the names and that I am in it! So we had practice last night and I'm pretty excited to get to continue to play some worship songs, it's gonna be a great experience to be around some other musicians than just the one's I'm used to. That's really about it for me now, I'll try to give a better, more in depth post about what's going on sometime tonight or tomorrow, and probably some smaller ones from my phone along the way! Thanks for reading and please pray for my support and job situation!

Nevertheless - O'Child

I want to come closer, but you are so distant.
Lately your thoughts are so far.
I want to show you all that you're missing,
and I'll meet you right where you are.

O' Love, I've always known you, and,
O' Love, you've always been mine.
O' Love, I'm only asking you for your life.

Say that you need me. I know what you're feeling.
and You cannot do this alone. I gave you my Word,
and I gave you my life so you'll never be on your own.

O' Love, I've always known you, and,
O' Love, you've always been mine.
O' Love, I'm only asking you for your life.

You're waiting for this life to be what you wanted
(Is this what you wanted?)
You're waiting for this life to be what you needed.
(Is this what you needed?)
You're waiting for this life.

O' Love, I've always known you, and,
O' Love, you've always been mine.

This song was written basically from God to us, and it's amazing.
This song is God crying out to us, telling us that all He wants is for us to come closer, to be with Him. The chorus is so simple to understand, yet so difficult to fully understand and obey. All He is asking for is our life, every thing we are, every thing we have, every thing we think and know. I've seen lives come and go like nothing. I've seen lives wasted away in sin and doubt. I've seen lives completely changed around and made new in Christ. Through all this I've seen how worthless our life is, how meaningless we really are. So why do we cling to our lives so preciously when they mean nothing? All I have was given to me from God, it only makes since to give it all back to Him. Our lives mean nothing, until you see first hand the real beauty in everyone, and how giving your life away can help someone finally live by helping them give their life away too. It's more than amazing. It's God.

It's started

I'll keep this short for now and try to elaborate in the morning or sometime because I am really tired. The last two days have been really busy and really long. Yesterday was full of meeting all the the 120+ people that were getting here and getting a know some. We met our growth teams, basically our small group for the summer and today we got to hang out with them. Our group spent the day going to look out at Coranado Island, Sunset Cliffs, downtown SD, and the pier on the beach here. We all shared our life stories with each other, the things in the past that have made us who we are today. It was so amazing to get to listen to my groups life stories and see how they have similar struggles in life, and to see some of the other struggles other people go through and help them with problems.

Tomorrow is more job hunting and meeting followed by some time that we get to go out on the beach and share with people we meet. I know everyone is nervous but it's going to be great so I'm not too worried with it. Hopefully it'll be a better day that I hope it will be!

Summer Project Start!

So it's almost here, we start San Diego Summer Project tomorrow morning with registration! I have had an amazing time already. I've gotten to meet some interesting people on the beach and talk to them about God, we had some awesome guys house us for the weekend. It was so amazing to be around them talking because their conversations are centered around God and what he's been doing in their lives lately, which I've never really seen before so it gave me a chance to join in and kind of get a little kick start to the summer and what I'll be doing. The job hunt is still pretty rough but I've had a little bit of luck so hopefully the right job will come to me soon! I also got to meet quite a few of the guys that I'll be spending the summer with, but there's still about 100 new people to meet tomorrow so it'll be pretty crazy.
It hasn't really been that long that it's been going on but I've slowly been seeing this weekend that I really don't know that much about my faith. I know I've been coasting and haven't taken it really anyway lately. So I am confident that this summer will totally change how I am in so many ways. Hopefully translating into music for me to write, but if not, the change will still be present and I'll try my best to write about it on here so everyone can see it themselves.

I'm really ready to start this summer, it's been a long wait and I'm completely scared about it in some ways, but it's not my life after all, so however I feel about it, nervous, scared, whatever, I'll look past it and keep my eyes trusting in what really matters, God.
